Choosing abacus classes with this teacher has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my son! She explains everything clearly and brings so much patience, warmth, and encouragement to each lesson. My son gets distracted easily, but she is wonderful at gently redirecting his attention and keeping him engaged without making him feel discouraged. She knows how to motivate him, guide him through challenges, and make learning enjoyable. Another huge benefit is that she can teach in both English and Mandarin. We currently prefer Mandarin because my son is also learning Chinese, so these lessons give him a valuable opportunity to practise the language while developing his abacus skills. She is such a kind and dedicated teacher, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to any parent looking for someone who makes their child feel supported, capable, and excited to learn. We are so happy we found her!

Awesome session! My pupil is learning how to add using place value with the abacus beads. Sometimes she gets confused, because her abacus is the tradition abacus and the one used in the lesson by the teacher resembles the Western abacus. I will probably get her one to match the teacher so she can follow along better.

My son’s friend took Abacus lessons and was able to do amazing mental arithmetic at a young age which got us interested to enroll him in some abacus training. We took a trial Abacus lesson with Ms.Xiao Ou, and we couldn't be more impressed. From day one, it was clear she's dedicated and patient, offering lessons fluently in both English and Chinese—perfectly matching my son's learning style as his native language is English. Each session with Xiao Ou is thoughtfully organized. She presents clear, step‑by‑step instruction, and assigns purposeful homework to reinforce each concept—exactly what we'd hoped for in a math tutor. After his very first lesson, my son came bursting with excitement: “I really like her lessons!” That kind of enthusiasm speaks volumes about Xiao Ou’s teaching. We set up an extra camera to capture his abacus work during lessons, and it works beautifully. Xiao Ou adapts seamlessly to this setup, guiding him through each problem with precision and care.
